No... The only thing that RedHat has done is to provide the
/sbin/installkernel script. The Makefile in the arch/*/boot directory
understands to run the script "install.sh" for a "make install".
The kernel sources have had this ability as long as I know. The
install script is arch/i386/boot/install.sh for the x86 platforms. It
checks for the existance of /sbin/installkernel and runs it instead,
if it's found.
