Hi group,
I want to get (an unsanctioned :-) RH 6.1 box at work to talk to corp
printers on the LAN. Setup: Solaris servers to the printers via HP Jet
Direct (and AIX Xprint, to handle the GCOS mainframe stuff). I know HP Jet
Direct comes in a Linux flavor also, but I'm reluctant to play around with
it, as I'm still pretty green with UNIX printing in general and Solaris
printing in specific, and screwing up a LAN printer's IP address is likely
not a good career move. ;-) Would pointing the Linux jobs to a Solaris
print queue be a better option, and if so, any suggestions? Admittedly I've
not researched this in much depth (time constraints), but might some kindred
spirit have some experience with this, or point me to some pertinent
resources? My myriad of Linux books don't mention anything of LAN printing
other than via Linux to Linux boxes. Thanks much!
Frank Z.
