adapter to coax? Yes, I've seen those. but I've never thought of running
Ethernet on something like that. I have ran arcnet on a single pair in the
wall. I think light spackle paste and a dab of paint will be cheaper than
wireless networking between 2 rooms that are back to back. I can probably
even put a small receptacle on both ends to make it look good.

Subject: Re: [ale] Network of Home Telephone lines
I am currently using two 11 MBit Cabletron Wireless cards
in adhoc mode (without a base stations).
This connects my laptop to my desktop as a wireless X terminal.
The card is supported in Linux by two different drivers.
One is from Lucent ( www.wavelan.com ) and contains
binary only parts - the other is an open source driver.
(I think the open source driver does not yet support encryption)
The card comes in two different versions: 40bit encryption and
128 Bit encryption. ( I think Lucent also makes a card without any
encryption)
Expect to pay 180$ for one 40 Bit PCMCIA card - 225$ for 128 Bit.
About 40$ for an ISA adapter.

PS: I successfully used two spare twisted pairs from the telephone wiring
for a home 10 MBit network a few years ago.
( And I recall Radio Shack having an adapter (to coax?) using only
one pair)
