I've used small form-factor keyboards (unfortunately never the happy
hacking kb) before, and my general impression was pretty bad. It's almost
as if you are buying yourself a laptop keyboard that attaches to the
individual PCs instead of a real PC keyboard. I have had much more
success w/ the old-school IBM "click" keyboards, the ones that use the
double-spring action and shipped with the original PS/2 computers. IBM
still makes them, and they can be had for about $50 from buy.com brand
new. I've got one and I love it (switchable keycaps, and indestructable
construction are just a few of the plusses). It's great for low-to-medium
typing and great for gaming, but if you're gonna be typing yourself
3000-word documents several times a day IBM's new quiet-touch keyboards
are much better, not built like a tank, but still a good keyboard for not
much dough.
