I have seen this a few times before.  The LILO error in the man page is a

little bit misleading.  Geometry mapping doesn't work the same on SCSI.  I

don't know much about SCSI, but I think you can solve your problem by

placing 'linear' on its own line in your lilo.conf file.  This options

allows LILO to use the SCSI linear addressing feature.  An interesting

side-effect is that this also works on ATAPI drives:)
