you may not be able to successfully resolve the name of the web server.
Try substituting in the ip of the server , ie:
http://192.168.1.5/directoryofinterest
(where 192.168.1.5 is the proper server address) and see ifthat works.
If so, then your dns is not working/configured properly, it would appear.
