You have not upgraded any of the development tools or libraries?

I had a similar problem recently when upgrading glibc and gcc.

Libraries, gcc specs file ended up in inconsistent state,

autoconf could no longer reliably determine machine setup,

smoke, screams, body parts flying everywhere...

But if this is a totally stock RH61 system, no excuse for

this behavior. What exact error are you seeing? configure

says "Checking if gcc works... no."? Or you actually are

able to configure, but the make fails?
