Attend the ALE meetings. There's nothing better then rubbing elbows
with other folks using Linux, and you'll find a lot of these folks are
pretty damn sharp.
Go to the HOWTO's on your RedHat disk and read them. For your current
problem, start with these:
ISP-Hookup-HOWTO, Modem-HOWTO, Serial-HOWTO
You will want to make sure you're modem's not a winmodem, if it
is,you'll need to purchase a real modem.
Read the HOWTO's and if you don't make progress (or do, but are not
completely successful), post back to the list. The files under /var/log
are your friends. They'll tell you a lot about problems you might be
having.
