I think generally only a login shell reads your .profile --
other shells do not. However, all ksh shells execute the file
named in $ENV on start-up, if the parameter exists. Try moving
your aliases to a new file (say .kshrc), and add the following line to
your .profile:
export ENV=$HOME/.kshrc
--Joe

Subject:        [ale] screen and .profile
I'm running the latest version of screen on my box. For some reason
when I create a session or a new window, it doesn't seem to source
my .profile for aliases and variable. I have to manually
do a ". ./.profile" to source everything. This is a ksh shell BTW.
Anyone know how to fix this? Everything else looks good, but this
has always driven me crazy.
Robert
