Has anyone had any luck using APC's PowerChute Plus for Linux?
I've got an APC Back-UPS 500 and I've downloaded the 4.5.2 version of
PowerChute Plus. The serial cable is connected to COM2 (/dev/ttyS1),
but when I run the Config.sh utility I get the following messages:
> ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
> WARNING: Port must be configured for modem control in order to work with a
> "Simple" Signaling UPS
> ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
> ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
> WARNING: Could not communicate with device on /dev/ttyS1.
> Check that the communications cable is attached properly to both the device
> and the serial port.

>         2) Check the device configuration is appropriate for your UPS type
>         3) Rebuild or create the serial device using the utility appropriate

The documentation and their website isn't much help, unless I'm missing
something.
What does 'Port must be configured for modem control' mean?
Do I have to use the setserial command to configure ttyS1 somehow?
BTW, the serial cable works fine on the same UPS under NT4.0.
Thanks
