<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Linux Systems Administrator Responsibilities:</b> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><br>
- Responsible for the daily tactical and strategic support of our clients Linux and UNIX Server
<br>
infrastructure environment. <br>
- Provide installation, configuration, life cycle management, problem resolution and ongoing support of all
<br>
UNIX and Linux servers (both physical and virtual), while understanding and adhering to appropriate
<br>
compliance processes and controls. <br>
- Focus on the daily work required to operate the server environment with maximum availability and
<br>
efficiency and requires specific operating knowledge of our server environment, which includes server
<br>
virtualization and clustering. <br>
- On call rotation is required for this position.<br>
<br>
<b>Linux Systems Administrator Required Skills and Abilities:<o:p></o:p></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><br>
- A minimum of five (5) years server and technical problem resolution experience in a complex
<br>
infrastructure environment required.<br>
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with Linux server operating systems including
<br>
installation, configuration and support (including vendor coordination and liaison) required. RedHat
<br>
Linux and Oracle Linux experience desired.<br>
- Strong knowledge and experience with dell servers, including chassis and blade server support and
<br>
configuration.<br>
- Working knowledge of Veritas products, including storage foundation, volume manager and cluster
<br>
server.<br>
- Understanding of network protocols, including DNS, NFS, SMTP, SNMP.<br>
- Server administration skills, including the ability to understand, administer and provide tactical
<br>
operational support of complex virtualized and clustered environments and Linux and UNIX server
<br>
platforms. Ability to provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for server operating system, hardware or clustering
<br>
problems, including a broad understanding of the southern company infrastructure environment and the
<br>
interactions between the server and other components in that environment.<br>
- Ability to comprehend and support virtualized Linux server environments, including support and
<br>
management of both the physical host and the virtual servers and hypervisors, including server resource
<br>
allocation and management at the physical and virtual server levels. <br>
- Ability to effectively organize tasks, manage multiple tasks, adapt quickly to changing priorities, meet
<br>
schedules, and deliver on customer commitments.<br>
<br>
<b>Linux Systems Administrator Experience Desired:</b> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><br>
- Linux systems administration certification desired.<br>
- A minimum of two (2) years Linux server virtualization experience desired, including experience
<br>
managing and supporting physical hosts, virtual guests and hypervisors, through management GUIs and
<br>
command line administration. Specific product experience desired includes VMWare.<br>
- Knowledge and support experience with middleware desired, specific components: Apache, Weblogic,
<br>
Tomcat, Oracle Application Server, Websphere.<br>
- Experience with SAN storage technologies, including multi-pathing and thin provisioning and how those
<br>
technologies are used within the server environment a plus.<br>
- Experience with networking firewall rules and interaction of servers in an n-tier environment a plus.<br>
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or related work experience desired.
<o:p></o:p></p>
